The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the big coastal road project is almost ready. According to him, Section One of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to be commissioned by May 2026. This highway is one of the biggest road projects in Nigeria right now.

Umahi said work is moving fast. Engineers are preparing for final consolidation tests. Concrete pavement work is expected to start fully before the commissioning date. The first stretch runs through Lagos, including areas around Ahmadu Bello Way and towards Lekki. Once completed, drivers should be able to move smoothly across that road. The minister mentioned challenges like weak soil and deep sand in some parts of the route. They had to use extra engineering work to stabilise the ground. He also talked about vandalism. Some people reportedly damaged safety barriers and dumped waste in drainage areas. Other sections of the highway are still under construction. If this section is completed as promised, it will be a major achievement for one of Nigeria’s most ambitious road projects.

Make we see if the date no go change.
